Contest of Champions Week

This week will mark our last home game, senior night and our second competition of the year at Middle Tennessee State University's Contest of Champions.

Week's Schedule

  • Monday: Wind Ensemble Rehearsal
  • Tuesday: 4-6 - Competition Band Rehearsal
  • Wednesday: 6-9 - Guard Rehearsal
  • Thursday: 4-6 Competitoin Band Rehearsal
  • Friday: 6:00p.m. Call time at the Grissom Game (Seniors 5:45 p.m.)
  • Saturday: 11:00 a.m. - Call time for COC

Senior Night

Seniors should receive a letter from the administration that will be used to get into the game for free.  Seniors and their parents should meet at the southend endzone at 5:45 p.m.

The halftime performance will be the Marching Band Show and the Competition band will perform during a post game performance.

Contest of Champions

Students should eat a healthy lunch before they arrive.  Students taking the ACT should make arrangments in advance to be prepared to leave immediately after testing.  Students should bring money for a concession stand or fast food supper.

Students should be prepared to get dressed upon arrival.  All students are responsible for their own uniforms and instruments before departure.

This competition will be a Prelims/Finals format.  If the band scores in the top 8 bands we will have a second performance.  If selected, the director will draw for a finals time slot and a schedule will be announced through Twitter.  



  • 11:00 a.m. - Call time
  • 11:30 a.m. - Departure time
  • 1:30 p.m. - Arrival at Middle Tennessee State Univeristy
  • 2:15 p.m. - Staging for warmups
  • 2:30 p.m. - Warmup
  • 3:30 p.m. - Performance
  • 4:45 p.m. - Prelims Awards Presentation
  • Note: If the band does not make finals we will travel back at this time and the ETA would be around 8:30 p.m.  The band will stop on the way home to eat supper.
  • 5:30 p.m. - Eat supper in concessions.  Call time will be announced after drawing.
  • 7:00 p.m. - Finals Competition (Performance time will be drawn)
  • 10:00 p.m. - Estimated awards ceremony 
  • 11:00 p.m. - Estimated departure time (Check Twitter)
  • 12:30 a.m. - Estimated arrival at SHS (Check Twitter)

Marching Band Students

A limited number of Marching Band students will be allowed to travel with the band on this trip.  A bus signup sheet will be available at the 9th grade school on Monday.  The only other oportunity for Marching Band students to attend a competition will be the Contest of Champions on October 25, 2014.
